A new friend, Christianna, asked me if I would be willing to make some Cozies out of fabric she had on hand. I frequently do that, so I was happy to give her my mailing address and wait for her package to arrive. When I opened the package, I was so happy to see what I would be working with. I'm not sure how other quilters feel, but sewing with fabric that I don't like is like cooking a meal that I don't want to eat. But, in this case...I couldn't wait to start creating! All three of her fabrics were so bright and fun! The main fabric was covered in cute little turtles, bees, frogs and crickets. A Corresponding fabric featured brightly-colored stripes. The third fabric can best be described as a chocolatey brown with white polka dots.
Christianna asked me to start off by making a Gypsy Tote for her. These Gypsy Totes are perfect for carrying around your Gypsy and all of your power cords. Notebooks and paper also fit nicely.
I decided to put the main fabric on the bottom and the striped fabric on top. The brown strip, trim and handles "frame" the bag nicely and add some contrast that pulls the bag together.
A hand-crocheted flower in the middle of the brown strip adds the perfect finishing touch.
The inside of this tote is fully lined and has 4 pockets.
Christianna's second request was a clutch for her Gypsy. This simple design has a velcro closure and crocheted flower embellishment.
As you can see, the clutch fits nicely inside the tote. I hope Christianna likes this tote and clutch as much as I do. The only problem I encountered with her whole order is that I just might have a very difficult time parting with both of these items!
God bless you all!
Kathy
